Feasts; In the high Cuchumatan Mountains, the Mam people of Todos Santos hold a festival bringing together the feast day of their patron saint, on November 1st , and the celebration of the Day of the Dead, on November 2nd. Horse races between fields cultivated with corn and vegetables mark the beginning of the feast in commemoration of all the saints, which includes traditional dances. In commemoration of their dead, the people of Todos Santos visit the cemetery with marimba music and, after decorating the graves of their departed relatives with flowers and pine needles, eat, drink liquor and talk, in a ritual which unites them with the souls of those no longer with them.
