Volcanoes; At the edge of the Departments of Sacatep�quez and Chimaltenango is the Acatenango and Fuego volcano complex. Acatenango is the third highest peak in Guatemala at 13,121 feet above sea level. The Fuego Volcano, at 12,418 feet, is active and famed for its eruptions since 1524. Because of the enormous amount of sand and ash, climbing is difficult.
